Welcome to LC Knits!

This website is meant to show fun projects that I’m working on, classes that I’m offering locally, and as yet unknown explorations.

I learned how to knit in 1962, when I was 9 years old. My teacher was a lovely Englishwoman who lived in the apartment over ours, and I spent many hours making sadly distorted scarves – and then she moved away, and I was on my own.

Over the years I bought or borrowed pattern books and learned more techniques and got better at scarves, but garments didn’t always come out well, and I had no idea why! Periodically I’d get discouraged and put away my needles and pursue some other creative hobby. Maybe you can relate? There were no other knitters in my family, and it never even occurred to me to look for a knitting community!

Several years ago, as online video services like YouTube entered my awareness, I found LOTS of resources for educational videos and all kinds of techniques and tips. And then I found a local yarn store that fosters community – and my knitting has been transformed. So. Now I hope to encourage and inspire others to reach out, find a community that supports your own creative expression.

Cheers!
